Re: Grounded Selecta Gearbox sump = Leaking CVT oil and new sump needed

Right, I have fill the CVT oil. Sump gasket started to leak, but I've tightened the bolts and its stopped luckily.

Now then. According to Haynes manual, the auto box takes 1.8L of CVT oil on a oil change and 2.8L from dry.

I've put 1.8L in and all seems fine on the dipstick. Would this be the cirrect level or should it be 2.8L as the sump and entire oil content was removed.

The only reason for asking is because there is a wyning noise on start up, which eventually goes. I used to have this for a few seconds on first start up of the day before, but it seems to hang around more. I'm just wondering if I haven't put enough oil in, but know over filling does do damage.

It sounds like the hydraulic pump. Some times it only happens when the engine is over 2,000 RPM, whether in P.R.N.D.L.

Thanks. Jon.

Jon.
Thought I'd update everyone. I sent off the letter with a copy of all invoices on Monday, so hopefully there's a letter waiting for me when I get home from college tonight or I'll have to wait until next Friday.

I've been told they normaly say no on first letter because 80% of people don't reply back, but I sure will!

Only pain is that the sump has started leaking I think. Not enough to drip onto floor, but you can see the oil in the dirt on the sump (hope that makes sence), so will look at tightning the screws/bolts.

Jon.

Re: Grounded Selecta Gearbox sump = Leaking CVT oil and new sump needed

Another update. Had a letter back sometime last week saying that they're going to investigate my claim and get back to me in 30 days either with a nice cheque, or a load of bull saying it's not their fault.

So fingers crossed. Jon.

If all else fails go dig a hole in the councils executive directors parking place and see how long it takes the council to repair it
