you can get some putty stuff that might temp repair it.

a CityMatic's just a manual type box with extra bits iirc

I was thinking of using some sealent. Might do it tomorrow night after work.

Thanks for the info on the CityMatic's, I thought they were equiv to the Selecta, Learn something new everyday. This is what I've learn't today, and yesterday I learn't to avoid pot holes at all costs:D.

Many thanks again.

Fiat information shows that sump pan as used on Panda Selecta box was individual to that box as used on M9 ( 1108 ) and M12 ( 1108 ) Selecta engines.

Item was not used on Punto Selecta boxes.

Uno Selecta and City Matic were totally different boxes, though the Uno box worked on the same principle as the Panda's.

If in any doubt ( assuming you have not already done so ) have dealer check part number against VIN of your car for confirmation.

Rgds

If you go back and take a photo of the pothole and damage to your car, you may be able to claim the repair cost from the council responsible. You must have been going some to do that in a pothole though:)

That's a very good point, if its a severe pot hole (There's a guideline, something like greater than 2 or 3") you have a very strong case. Councils pay out loads in compensation to poor souls who have taken an un scheduled trip to the centre of the earth! Teach them a lesson for having crap roads.

Many thanks for all your replys. It was a service road around the back of some houses I was using, but I think its council own so will look into it. I was seriously only going at about 10 MPH at the time, but it was a big bang.

I am concidering giving up driving at this moment in time though, not that I can because of my job, but I seem to be having nothing but bad luck with the poor Selecta.

Unforunatly she made contact with the rear step of a Transit van this morning:cry:. Only the bumper that is duff though, all else (chassis, lights and stuff behind bumper) is fine luckily, and van driver wasn't fussed about exchanging details and neither was I. Luckily I have a spare front bumper on the Donor 750L. Do I dare do the two journeys to Sussex I have planned next week for fear of what else could possibly happen. I hope you don't all think I'm a bad Panda owner (or driver).

I just want to cry at times:(. Its even damaged my prized spot light grille:mad:. O well, my own fault.

I ought to put it in a new thread but I assume the front bumpers are easy enough to remove and change?

too much pressure will build up inside and try to push the rubber seals out, with resulting leaks etc....
You might find a decent motor factors will sell an oil perfectly suitable for the cvt gearbox at a much more reasonable price...

Clear indicator lenses 9940596 and 9940597, check for availability and price with your nearest Fiat dealer.
Rgds.

where did u get your clear indicators?

Hiya, they came with the Selecta although I got some off of a car in a scrappy for the 750L.

I'm going to a scrappy on Monday where they have a Panda (if is hasn't now gone) which had clear lenses. Did you want me to get you some and post them for you at cost? Wouldn't have though the scrappy would charge to much.

Jon.

Forgot to say, ordered a new sump and gasket for the gearbox from Fiat today. Gasket £15 approx and sump is £46 (ex VAT), £68 in total inc VAT.

Just thought I'd let all the other Selecta owners know that a new Auto box for the Panda will set you back about £2038 ex VAT:eek:

Another question. How often should the hydraulic filter be changed? Dosent say in any of my manuals, and was planning on changing at same time as changing sump as it looks easy enough according to the Haynes manual (only a 2 out of 5 spanner job) but at £90 for the filter decided to leave it!

Right. I've managed to confirm (with locals) what it is a public service road. Who should I be writing the letter to and roughly how should I word it?

I've got all pics of hole, and damage, and reciepts.

Just what to say? Did you know this road has a pothole which by the way damaged my car? I want my money back? Can I have my money back? Your pothole cost me £130, can I have £130 to cover it please?

I'm normally good at writing letters, but I've got writers block.:(

Thanks. Jon.

How about asking the Citizens Advice, Im sure they could help. Id word it politely but firmly, and to the point. If they dont respond then write again saying if you dont hear within say 7 days youll be contacting a solicitor... that should do the trick!

So, its not a public highway then... a service road sounds like you might have a tougher case.

Here's an interesting site that may help. (Don't worry it's not dodgy despite the name!)

http://www.fillthathole.org.uk/

It's run by the CTC, a cycling club. If your hole is on this site you have an even better chance, becuase the council knows about it as they are all reported. Also a good way to report pot holes.

Good luck
