Just picked up a 17000 mile selecta off ebay [ not the one that was thought to be dodgy !]
It's a beauty , good enough for a panda museum !
it's got lots of little extras like Fiat headlamp/indicator perspex covers , reversing sensors , alarm etc
Trouble is it's got a transmission fault , apparently the powder clutch is knackered ,
I was going to fit manual trans. and trial it , but it's far too good for that !
It needs fixing and going to a good home .
The g.box etc is removed , so I can't check that the clutch is the problem, but the sellers were very genuine .
I would like to get hold of another powder clutch if anyone has such a thing?
Would one from an 11o8/1248 punto selecta be compatable .
Any info on selecta , it's usual trans. faults and what to look for would be appreciated .
This is the cleanest , lowest mileage car I've ever owned , I can't believe it's a Bl**dy Panda !
Cheers
Carl

I e-mailed the seller ( via Ebay ) whilst the auction was still live, asking what were the syptoms which prompted removal of the gearbox? There was no response so I decided not to bid.

Pleased to hear that it is a good one but would ask, Did they bend the oil pump drive shaft whilst removing the gearbox? The auction stated that the gearbox was in the boot, so I was wondering what was holding the engine up?

One of the forum members broke a Selecta earlier in the year for its bodyshell ( cannot remember who at this time ) he may still have the clutch. If he is following this, perhaps he will contact you.

Good luck. Petel

What ever you do please don't convert it to manual, under 1000 Selecta's left on the road in the UK. Glad it was a good buy. If I had the space and time to sort it I might have slung in a bid.

When you get it sorted it should make a great run about! Loving my Selecta now I've got used to it! Keep us upto date on getting it running plz!

You'll need some substantial resouces from the following choice to resurrect it as a Selecta:

money/luck/skill

That's why it's being auctioned. Respect if you manage.

Thanks for the replies
First I'm going to check the components [with Haynes info , It looks quite comprehensive ] and take it from there

Read another post that mentions the Punto selecta , can anyone confirm if this is the same electro magnetic type clutch , and gearbox as Panda ?

I have found that the drive shafts vary / differ between Panda and Punto on manual cars , but then the Panda selecta seems to have different inner cv's than the manual

Cheers

Punto Selecta's ( not the very late ones ) have similar g/box and clutch working on exactly the same principle but both parts are different and not listed as being interchangeable with the Panda's.

Selecta's have inner CV similar to Punto's and later Fiats but again, not listed as being interchangeable.

Is the oil pump drive shaft OK?

Rgds.

Hi
I will be having a look at the parts in detail over the week end , the car is stored as I'm still building my garage !!
Thanks again for the info
Carl

Hi,
Some progress in as much as i've had a look at the parts removed and it appears it's only! the clutch that's knackered . pump shaft isn't bent .
Hoping that Alan.D can sort me with clutch when he's recovered from sticker nightmares !
Cheers

I need a powder clutch for a punto 1.2 selecta as well, if anyone finds another one. Previous owner had the gearbox changed, but never sussed that the clutch was ******! Best price I've found is £450+VAT new.:(

I think there may still be a powder clutch and gearbox from a k-plate Panda 1000 selecta at my local breaker's yard if anyone needs parts. I got told that it wouldn't fit the punto though, which is why I didn't have it.

Is the £450+vat inc fitting?

Thanks for telling about 1000 Selecta, but think is slightly different to the 1100 Selecta I've got. Where about are you / the breaker's yard located?

Jon.

If the clutch is still available I too would be interested in its location/tel no. of breaker.

Thanks

Dennis

There's a 93 1107cc panda selecta engine and autobox for sale in the ad's with offers invited.
