(G) Just bought a palio today ! :D

My name is Kareem M. Kamel from Cairo, Egypt
The Fiat palio was never introduced here before , only 3 months ago , I was on a waiting list and I recieved mine today , but still going thru some paperowrk , so I can't really drive it far from home .

its a 1.2 16V ELX , no mods or whatsoever yet
does anyone happen to know whats the " BUZZ " in the trip computer thing do ??

Fiat palio is fiats " world car " aimed at developing countries , ( third world country ) not for the ... " first world " countries like urself

they only sell the Panda there i think ?
anyways we could trade , come live in a third world country like mine , own my car and I will go to the UK and get a Punto or something . deal ?

This is my first FIAT !( my first car actualy ) unless you consider the Fiat 128 I learned to drive on is still a FIAT

Try a preformance air filter first its cheap and it makes u r car sounds nice

If ur such a computer geek then you should know that Google is ur friend :P
I have a chinise one on i think but its working so who cares and i dont think there is much of a diffrance between them. I also dont know much about cars also a bit more of a computer geek ^.^ K&N sounds like a good make tho.

anyways I am just feeling lazy to GET INSIDE the whole car tuning thing , u know when you talk to someone who knows nothing about computer and try to explain simple things ?? it sucks to do so , so I feel like that same someone but car wise :P

I thought it's 1.3 not 1.2, exactly 1254 cc ahahha.
Anyway tell me please how is yours going in Engine and A/C on? and how is the 80HP performing with this small HB car.
and how is the stability?
I reserved mine and i will get it on Sunday (i hope so finger crossed) and it's dark green.
I already got my MP3 player ready and my (japanese made) pioneer speakers with 200 watts power ready for this small beauty.
Hope you fix yours soon and get back to the roads soon.tell me which service centers did you go to??? which one is better?

Congratiulations in advance hope you like it

well I only driven it for 2 days or even less so my feedback won't be that informative .

lets take it step by step ,

performance and accelleration , excellent , seriously I've seen alot of NEW 1.3 cars ( not even 1.2 like ours ) struggles just to START moving .

Speeed : well I haven't gone beyond 60 km/h , So I can't help you on this one

Shifting : excellent , with one finger u can work out the shifting

Clutch : very smooth , and its not as LONG as the ( 128 I used to drive )

Power Steering : well its Hyrdolic not Electric , but its very very helpfull , yet some STRANGE vibration occures if you steer it to the max .

A/C : I dont like it at all , seriously , it has 4 levels , at Level 4 , its making more noise than AIR , but then the ppl at Automicho told me that it should be fixed after the first 5,000 KMs Mantainence .

Sound Isolation : well at 60km/h I can barely hear the engine noise and .

the worse thing about the car is SERVICE

there's not a single service centre in egypt who can handle this baby , or even has its spare parts

I've called 32 Service centre in Egypt , 5 of them are supposed to be official FIAT service centers, they never heard of the car , some of them did but they dont have spare parts .

the dealer itself " OMATRA " SUCKS , they are a bunch of liars , thiefs , and they dont even have all of the spare parts yet

I made my accident 3 weeks ago , And I am still waiting for my RIGHT FRONT HEADLAMP to arrive, can you believe it ??? and it costs a FRIGGIN 1250 LE !!! (thats $220 for the ppl here )

Its really sad to see a great car , ruined by STUPID dealers ! but its seems to be the issue with FIAT dealerships all over the world !

But I really think you should either Make a CAR insurance , since this baby spares are expensive and rare . or take very good care of it , at least for now . my cark is parked for 3 weeks !!!

I didnt send it to a mantaiance center , as the cars is mechanicly perfect , the bodywork is whats damaged , So I sent it to ... what do you call a " SAMKARY " Amir ? :P

I got a Clarion Mp3 player , I am not into car audio or cars in general , so I just buy what looks right and fits the budget ( 750 LE )

I wont change the speakers for now ( no money :P )

Hey Kimo, thank you a lot for the information.
As for me i have had it for 3 days now(Dark green), i drove it for about 50 Kms only so still not much experience.
Mine is form Automicho too and i think they are best sellers of FIAT in Egypt.
I like the engine so much, and you know what i like more about it, is that i can hear it, **** this japanese cars that you only hear a BUZZ coming from the engine when it's runing.... i like to hear and feel the engine (sure when it's runing right), it helps diagnose the car too.
Let me tell you some of my Experience.
- The speed: i got beyond 120 with this beauty, sure you will say i am bad because i am doing this to a new car but i had to try it and see what it does.
It's so stable on 120 and i think this is thanks to the 175/65/R14 Pirelli's. It can get more then 120 but i said it's enough.
- The brake: They are just perfect man, but i don't think it got ABS . you are the experienced guy in the Brakes.
- The suspension: i loaded the car with 5 people and we drove in Egyptian streets, you already know about (it's hell bad) and i didn't hit any bumper with the lower part of the car.
- Power steering: it's not as smooth as electronic but still better then nothing and it helps when runing on high speed. I hear the same noise, i htink it's a quite buzz to warn us that it's the max turning of the car.
- Interior: i love the color and the layout of the console.....but the interior is kind of tight for me because i am 185 long. but i managed, the one suffering is the one sitting behind me.
- Exterior: I love the exterior design, it's a hatchback with a beautiful design, nice lights, when i first turned on the front lights i was so happy....they are so clear.i loved it.
I hope i covered something new for anyone there thinking of getting a Fiat Palio.
So you are saying that the service is ****, you went to all of the service centres but i hope the new one in Abo Rawash is good (the one by Omatra) i asked in Automicho and they recommended the one in 3'amra.
I got an Aiwa Mp3 player and i am using the installed front speakers but in the rear i installed my old 2 way Pioneer 200 Watts speaker (MADE IN JAPAN, can't find them anymore), so the sound in my car is just GOOD...and i think later iwill get an 8" or 10" subwoofer to make it WOW.....
Good luck with finding your front lights man....u can't not lisence it till now right?
i am going to lisence mine on thursday or saturday, then i iwll be free to run, i am not able to go out of Helipolis Till now.
is really the spare parts that expensive?if iknow i would have a korean car hahaha.

Well I didn't have enough time to go at 120km/h nor driving experience ( I stopped driving 3 years ago ) so I was a bit scared .

The Interior is not bad , but its acceptable , but I honestly expected more for 68,000 LE ( $11,929 ) , even the stock Mp3 player that comes with it OUTSIDE egypt, doesnt come here .... which is stupid , cuz it comes with the Fiat Albea ( a bigger sedane ) .

Anyways , No I havent found the Headlight yet , and its for 1250 LE !!!
btw , did you by any chance come near " Makrab 3ebed " , I saw a Dark Green Palio just like mine there , but I think it was a Girl driving it ... or so I thought . ( automicho as well ) well they are the most selling fiat seller in Egypt , its a shame they dont own a service centre tho .

I bought a Wierd Looking Clarion Mp3/Wma Player , for 750LE , I am not planning to adda sub or speakers for now .

After I license it and drive it for a while I am thinking of getting some 15" rims and Xenon Lights .

Because this is FIATS WORLD car , think of it as a cheaper PUNTO . and its current engine I think only meets Euor III not IV , which is more than acceptable in its homeland Brazil and the other nations ( Turkey / South Africa / CHina bla bla )

The new PALIO however ( I have some SPYSHOTS of the 2007 Palio , which looks even more close to the punto with the vertical rear lamps ) will meet Euro IV , and will come with 4 Airbags as standard , but I think its going to be sold everywhere, Altho I think the current generation looks better )

designed by Guigaro , the engine is inspired from a Sport edition of a Punto I dont recall the exact model or mark .

btw 4Car.com , once showed a SPYSHOT of a Palio being tested at BRITISH Roads , but that like 2 years ago , and they said that this might be a step to bring it there actualy .

But the problem is Alex , if the Palio gets Launched in the UK it will be less or equal in price to a Panda , which will make the PANDA totally useless

but i think it will OWN the Picanto and that same car category .
