Re: fiat siena 2001 - hunting i need help please

Good morning, I can help you. I have the exact same car and same year model but based in Cape town. The problem is not air leaks as I initially thought on mine. You need to replace your throttle body or clean it out properly.
The sensors ( Idle control valve & Throttle position sensor )are very dirty or shot on the throttle body, they can not be removed at all and be replaced which would have been the cheaper option.
Quick fix for you is to disconnect your battery and leave it for an hour, this will reset the computer box, once you connect your battery again everything will be back to normal. Avoid pressing hard down on your gas pedal when driving, you can still do speeds up to 130 km per hour this way. You need to completely remove your throttle body from the engine and clean it out, sometimes there is old oil and dust in there that blocks the function of the idle control valve and throttle position sensor. A new throttle body is around R7500 at the agents only. I didnt replace mine, just cleaned it out.

Use lots of carburetor spray to clean the inside of the throttle body, should do the trick.
Are you sure you have a 2001 model, until model 2000, the 1,6-16V engine has a separate IAC valve.
Welcome at FF btw.

I have a 2001 Model Siena 1.6 16v and also the 2003 Palio 1.6 16v, on both of them both the throttle position sensor and (ICV) Idle control valve are factory fitted inside the throttle body, if either one of the two fails then best try clean it out with carb spray like Peter Pick-up said. Just strip it off from the intake manifold, 4 X Hex nut bolts, cable and 2 plugs on the sensors. Its easier to get to the idle control valve this way and you wont have any dirt going into your manifold.
