I am also fairly new to Fiat and recently I have acquired a Palio 1.2 EL 2006 model.


So my problem is this, the car was going slow had no power so I changed the spark plugs and the oil that was in there was like water so did the whole change and flush and replaced with Castrol GTX 20W-50 mineral multi-grade and she is running like a dream now. Except the only thing now is that every morning when I start her up and put her in gear there is a zinging sound coming from somewhere cant really place if its the gearbox or engine. It takes about 2 minutes for her to warm up and then the zinging is gone? Does anyone know what the cause of that may be?
Also I did put stop leak in the water bottle as I had a welch plug leak but sorted it out this weekend too, could that have done something?

All right, so as it turns out both the power steering and gearbox were empty, topped up on both and the car is not making a noise anymore. So to answer my own question - check oil levels always lol.

So you have two leaks....???

No actually when I bought the car she had been standing for a year so I had the engine fixed up but failed to check on oil levels for anything else and I don't know how the previous owners drove the car or if they checked for things like that, so could have been it was on empty already when I bought her. Also not finding any leaks now.

Keep an eye on both.
The gearbox and the powersteering reservoir are filled "for life", so the only possibility for them being empty, is a leak....or two.
( it's a good habbit to change those fluids once in a while though...)
