Good Day everyone. I am new on the forum and a first time cv joint changer on a fiat siena. I think I did everything correct but can be wrong. I want to know if the inner cv joint( tripod) only slides in the gearbox or must it be locked in the gearbox or not( does the cv boot keeps it in place).

The car is driving. When I turn the wheels and turn the steering back straight it sound like something is loose at the gearbox. What can be the cause.

thanks

Hi Peter

Thanks

I have the 1600 16v 2000 model
I can't remember how it came out I just know it was a struggle to get it out.
I don't know if I turned it and pulled it out or did I just pulled it out.
I struggled to get the parts so I re-assembled it after a few days so I putted everything back in yesterday late afternoon and realized that it's making that sound.

I kept the old cv I only changed the cv boot and bearing and then also change the outer cv joint because originally the outer cv was broken.

Hi Peter

yip it looks like the right parts.

Can it maybe be a worn out ball joint that can cause this?
If so can I just replace the ball joint or do I have to replace the whole lower control arm.

hi juan there is 2 types of gearboxes the 1 has no cup and the other has a cup on the gearbox don't know how to upload photos here but it sounds like you pulled out the entire cup from the gearbox if so then you most probably didnt put back the retaining clip onto the spiket side of the cup now the cup could be pushing in and out as you turn

you could also send me your bbm or whatsapp think it will be better to explain in Afrikaans what I mean by the cup pulled out
