I also did an oil change for my car a week ago. Used selina k 5w 40 synthetic oil
Get only puralator oil filter here in India
Peter, why I feel that the Bosch oil filter is double in height then the oil filter I used

Also what is the exact qty of oil which goes into your palios engine?

Purolator is a good brand.
I don't know why your filter is shorter, though, more important is to change the filter with every oil change!
I use 4 liter Castrol oil.( I suppose 3,8 liter is the official figure from Fiat for the 1,6-16V engine...??)

Yes Peter , with every oil change I compulsory change the oil filter as well
I fill 3.75 ltrs of oil

Is there any harm if some extra oil is filled ? Like in your case you would filling up some 250 ml extra

I used to fill 3,8 liter, but now I put in 4 liter.
Maybe you're right about the Bosch filter beeing slightly longer, thus holding a bit more oil....??
Anyway, the max. marking on the dipstick is your guide, and don't overfill any engine.

Yesterday, it was time for the Palio's annual change of the pollenfilter, which is a relative easy job, when you know how to do it.
First time when I changed this filter, it took me more than 2 hours and a lot of shouting and swering...now I can do it in less than 1/2 hour.
It's located in the left footwel next to the accelerator ( on lhd cars...).
And while I was in the mood, I changed the pollenfilter in my Alfa GT as well, so fresh/clean inside air in both cars...!
