Hi

I recently had my Siena 1.7TD engine overhauled. Brilliant job, except for the excessive smoking I noticed when I drive behind it. I asked the mechanic to check it out and he said that he needs the settings on the diesel pump to make sure it is set right.

Can anyone out there help me with the timing settings on this pump?

He also asked for the "timing lift" settings. In Sout Africa technical details on these models are scares and the agents are not very helpful.

what build age of the car / engine..?? any idea what pump = Bosch / Lucas

don't want to give you incorrect info

You can use info of any Fiat 1,7 (T)D engine, no mather what model, it's all the same.
I remember it can by a little tricky to find the right setting, it will run with one teeth of, but it won't run very well, though...
And the TD version will probably be Lucas, while the non turbo versions use Bosch pumps...

Hi ,
:idea: maybe try and buy in one of the Lindsay Porter Manuals,

they cover LOTS of FIAT's - so there is good info on LOTS of different tech,
so you can pick + choose to suit your model,

I'd recommend the one book that does Tipo, and Punto Mk1, along with the Cinq / Sei , and Estates ( S.W.'s)

Thank you all for the advise and replies.

I went to the agent down the road and they happily downloaded the "fuel system" section to a Palio Weekend for me.

What a great read... All the info on the system, from the tank to the inertia switch was covered.

Got the specs on the timing for the pump and the other little tidbits that needs to be done when you adjust the pump.

It was almost 15' out!! Now she runs like a dream... like the day I bought her.

Palio (Weekend) Mk1 used the same 1,7TD engine.
