Today I bought 4X new Pirelli P1 Verde 195-50R15H tires, for our m.y. 2000 Palio Weekend 1,6-16V with 220.000km.
Pirelli P6000 first set, didn't like them much, two sets Pirelli P6, great tire, but no longer made, so now the New P1.
Can't wait to try them out, but have to wait until spring arrives overhere, and the wintertires/wheels go of the car..

Good choice peter

Will be waiting to know your views on how the tyre works for you

Well, tires are on!
Very quiet, sharp but smooth ride as expected from new Pirelli's!!
But during changing wheels today I discovered trouble: one leaking rear brake cylinder, and a bad wheelbearing on the same side.
Some rust at the edges of the rear wheelarches as well, I treated it with Fertan, next week with paint.
So, still work to do....

Wednesday 15-04 I'm going to fit new Ate (=good quality) rear brakecilinders and a new SKF(=quality as well) rearbearing, together with new Castrol React Dot 4 brake fluid.
The rust will be treated when the outside temps are a bit higher overhere.

Brake cylinders and wheelbearing are on!
Very quiet ride now!
Today I ordered a new FAG wheelbearing on Ebay, just in case the rightside bearing will go bad...
In two days, we are going to visit the largest Classic Car show in the world in Essen, Germany, so the Palio will be driven on no speed limit, German Motorways!

Today I checked the spare wheel, which is bolted under the rearside of the car.
I do this once a year, clean the wheel, bring the airpressure up, etc.
Last year I forgot to do so.
I was shocked to see the condition of the spare wheel now, all rust and dirt...!!
I cleaned the rust of with a wire brush, and put Fertan on it to stabilize the rust, and put 3 bar pressure in the tire.
I soon discovered that the wheel was leaking....not the tire, but the wheel, it was so rusted, that small holes had appeared...
Luckily I found a new Palio steel wheel on Ebay, I'm going to buy it, and change the existing tire onto the new wheel.

Glad you found on time peter before any need of spare
Rusting is a big issue one has to deal with

225.000km, so time for regular maintenance today.
4 L Castrol Formula RS 0W40 oil,
Bosch oilfilter,
Bosch airfilter,
MAN fuel filter,
2L Castrol TAF-X gear oil,
Bosch cabin filter,
Sonax A/C treatment.
(And some hours working in my workshop.....)

I discovered that the excisting radiator is going bad (small leaks) after about 9 years and ~175.000km, so I will fit a new one in the next weeks, will report later about that.

Re: New Tires and more

New radiator is in, together with new Paraflu Ultra Protection anti freeze.

But it never ends, yesterday I discovered a small leak in the exhaust pipe ( only one year old...), so have to weld it next week or so.....

As the left front door ( drivers side where I live..) was making more "knacking" sound while opening and closing, I replaced the part that limits the opening angle...( don't know it's English name..)

Part #: 46539531.
Easy change after taking out the large speaker in the lower section of the door.
