Hi,
My car is Fiat Palio 1.2 ELX Petrol.
2 days ago when I tried to start the car it just cranked but did not start up. So I removed the Spark Plus cables to check the issue. I saw that one of the spark plug wires is completely rusted and cut inside. I have ordered new set of cables.
Now I need help regarding the following things:

1. Will the Car not start at all if only one of the spark plug cables is removed?
2. How do I connect the wires from ignition system to spark plug? I have removed all the cables and now I am confused which spark plug wire connects where. Can Someone please share a pic of your Palio ELX 1.2? I searched online and could not find how to connect the wires in the proper order.

Welcome at FF.

This is for a Punto, should be about the same for your car:

1-3-4-2 is the most common firing order.
Thanks a lot for the picture! :)
I remember two connections properly. I have modified your picture to reflect the two connections. How can I determine the rest? If I take a guess and connect, will it harm the engine? Will the engine start with wrong connections?

Hi

I have a Palio 1.2 EL and my firing order is exactly the same as the picture above, plus if you have a look on the electronic points fiat prints the firing order on there too.

Hi Guys,

Just joined the group and read your issue on the coil packs. I have a Fiat Palio 1.2mph 8v ED 200 model 3 door. Please indicate whether the firing order on the Punto will be 1-4, 32 on the coil pack side. The electrical connector is on the outside and the spark plug connector closets to the tappet cover (swop the Punto pack around).

In picture it's 2 3 4 1 (ignition coil pack side, starting from bottom to top),
on my fiat palio 2008 it's 1 3 4 2.

Hi Guys

I just join the forum, drive a 2002 Palio 1.2 el. It is a bit old but are still in an immaculate condition and I never had any problems before. But now all of a sudden I found that it loose power. I took it on a freeway and could only get a top speed of 120 kph. I tried injector cleaner, changed all four plugs and plug wires, but now the car has totally no more power.

Guys I am a bit confused now. On the picture you say the firing order is 1 4 3 2,but then you replied that it is 1 3 4 2.

Hi Guys

I am new to this forum and need help. My Fiat Palio 1.2 el all of a sudden just misfiring, and had a lack of acceleration. I changed all four plugs and wiring, but now all of a sudden the car do not have any power. It can still drive, but only very slowly. Also please advise me what is the correct firing sequence of on the coil. On this forum I saw a picture indicating it as 1 4 3 2, but someone reply that it is 1 3 4 2.

I'm having the same no power issue all of a sudden. I have a 1.2 palio ed, at first i thought i had set the timing wrong after doing a cambelt change, even though it had been running fine afterwards. Still went back to check if all was right, glad i did as the water pump had started. So now timing is right, firing order is as shown, i have spark and fuel, yet still a misfire. Any thoughts?
