I found some rust spots on the floorpan, next to the front jack up points.
Sanded them, put Fertan on it, waited about three days, now I've washed Fertan of, and I sprayed Dinitrol ML on it, waiting it to be sticky dry, than some layers Dinitrol Metallic underbody coating.
Hope it will stabilize it some time.

Nice DIY by you Peter

Do you have a ramp at your house or jack up the car for easy access?

My car is otherwise fine but it's hot here so ac is used more often. A significant drop in mileage with ac. Not sure what could be the reason. Almost 30 percent drop

I have a ramp in my garage next to our home...( one of the reasons we bought the house 14 years ago....).
A 30% drop in mileage only because of the A/C is to much, about 10% is considered normal.
Are you sure about the 30% drop?

Sorry for such a late reply peter

You are a lucky guy to have a ramp right at your house. Makes it very easy to work on the car

About my car in same traffic conditions without the ac on it can give about 8 to 9 Kms per ltr. Same drops to 5 to 6 with ac on which I feel is way too less

Ac cools as it should be. Car does not feel extra sluggish with ac on as well. It's a normal load , one can make out the engine is powering the ac system but nothing that it makes a pain it drive the car

Anything specific I have to look into?

Can it be that the compressor itself is the culprit? It's the original compressor but redone ( valves and seals were changed)

Rikhav,
Our Palio 1,6-16V (with A/C) has a year round average fuel consumption of 1: 11,5 during the last 10 years of ownership.
A slightly higher tire pressure, and oil+filter service every 10.000km ( 0W40 synthetic Castrol Edge)
Every 30.000km new Sparks (Bosch +4), fuel and airfilter (Bosch) as well.
I don't see a great difference in fuel consumption with A/C on or of...
One important fact to take in mind: it all depends on the way you drive the car....
F.i. we never race it after a (cold) start ( and even at 30C outside temps, after 4 hours not in use, it's considered a cold start!!) and we avoid high rpm's at all times, except when driving long distances on German Motorways).

hi peter
I am pretty much following the same except its time based in my case since car does not run so much
Every 6 months engine oil and filter (semi synthetic magnatec)
Every 18 months air and fuel filter
Spark plugs every 3 years
Every 2 years coolant, steering oil and brake oil

Car is not revved extensively but very frequent gear changes and use of clutch due to bad traffic. Even when on a day when traffic is moderate the gear changes woild be easily double then what you would do for any amount of distance within city

Would this be a reason for a bad mileage?

If yes nothing much can be done it seems bit its way too less

My tyres are also low resistance tyres so it should be ideally be helping in getting better fuel consumption

hi peter
Thanks.
I am really sorry for going total off topic

I have tried sourcing high life pink coolant but due to lack of awareness its not easily available at stores. Not tried recently. Will try now

Increasing tyre pressure by 2 or 3 psi will make a difference or i have to go much higher?
