Hi there all,
i have just registered on this site, so lil bit confused that my this thread is in proper location or not

by the way guys! i am from India and from a lil known location of India. In India Fiat service is very poor. I have a Palio 1.6 sports. done only 65000 km in 7 years (baught in 2002).

now a days m facing a weired problem.

1. when its running, suddenly it looses its power, even i have to drive in 2nd gear pressing the gas paddle at nearly floor of the car.

2. the car started to vibrate like old diesel cars.

3. when the car is cool the problem disappears, but that doesnt mean that when its getting warm the problem starts. the problem starts suddenly and disappears suddenly.

4. When the car is idle, vibration remains.

i have shown the car to 3-4 mechanics, they did so many tngs but problem persist

i have changed all plugs and plug wares, washed injectors, replaced fuel filter, replaced the body fuel pump.

i am pissed off dudes please please help me out i love my car i dont want to sell it off.

thanx peter. can u tell me in detail? where it is located and how much it can cost me etc.

there is the problem my friend, i live in Siliguri, India. here there is no any Fiat dealer  so i have to rely on some trial n error mechanic :(

i cant understand what is the issue with fiat in India.

The Fiat Examizer computer is used at any FIAT, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Iveco truck dealer.
If they are not around, find a workshop that is specialized in car electronics, they should be able to read your Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for stored faults.

thanks a lot peter for your valuable time in my thread, :)

we have Ford, Suzuki, Honda, Skoda, GM, Renault, Hyundai, Toyota, TATA dealers and service centres here. can you tell me any one of them will be able to read my car's ECU?

Get the throttle body cleaned - does injector light glow when the problem occurs? Like Peter mentioned the O2 sensor / Lambda sensor may not be working properly - if i recall correctly it costs around 2000/- in Kolkata.

if the o2 sensor is the culprit - your fuel economy should go down - how much is the car returning now?

You can try the Tata-Fiat service centres and see they have a scanner.

Similar problem reported here: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/technical-stuff/58004-help-me-diagnose-problem-palio-1-2-elx.html

hi planet, thank u for ur reply...

when the car runs normally (as the problem is random), the FE is seems to be normal... around 8-10 kmpl in city traffic.

but when the problec occurs the FE drops radically... it starts to consume fuel like hell. FE drops around 4-5 kmpl in city traffic.

question is if it is lambda sensor the problem should remain all time or when the car gets warm. the problem is random but never occurs when the engine is cool.

No, Injector light doesn't glow in Dash.

when the problem first started, then it was just some jerks when idle, or loosing power for 2-3 seconds, these type of, at that time i ignored it, thought its just bad fuel. but in time... the problem became greater and heavier. when it is in it's optimum phase, i feel like i am driving a road roller in 2nd gear pressing the thortle padle in the floor and suddenly it becomes normal and the car shoots like rocket.

is it good?? i hope it will be available with petrol pumps or lube dealers.

i have washed the inlet valve some months ago... aftr that the car was normal 1/2 months then again it started same symptoms.

Hi there,

Check out the TATA showroom. They use the same unit/software to read TATA Vista ECU. So just tell them to connect their Vista Laptop.

thank you very much your replies dear friends..... and m very sorry for such a late reply.... my problem solved after thortle body cleaning.... thanks again guys
:)
