Transmission/clutch problem

My Palio Weekend has been running great until recently it just started to have a problem when letting the clutch out into gear. There is a chunky feeling as if the gears are not quite catching properly along with a low noise under the car. It drives fine once in gear.

Where can I check my clutch fluid and manual transmission fluid levels?

It's a 1996 (silver!) 1.4.

When I put the clutch in and give it gas it goes smoothly, but as I let the clutch almost out all the way out, right at the end there is a rattling kind of action and the the car is jerking slightly.

A 1996 Palio Weekend 1,4...??
It must be one of the earliest, right?
Anyway, how many mls or km's?
I suspect your clutch assembly is just worn..!!

Oh, you're right, it's a 1998, sorry, with 142.000 km. I can't find any reservoir to fill the clutch fluid, I wonder if it uses the brake fluid? That level is fine. Do you know how much it would cost to replace the clutch assembly?

Re: Transmission/clutch problem

The 1,2 and 1,6-16V had cable operated clutches, I suppose yours as well...!!
Costs for replacing the clutch assembly varies enormous, so shop around....
