Hi, I notice vapour kind of in my Palio head lights, what is the solution for this. Due to this I can't get good light foucs. This goes away if put in sun for 12 hours. But will not go with head lights on. This happens in rainy or when the car is washed.:cry::cry::cry::cry:
 
It's a common occurence amongst FIATs, a known solution on the forum is to put one or two of those Silca gel packs that you get in a box of new shoes into the headlight cavity should help prevent them from steaming up.

Take the bulbs out, blow dry the units with a hair dryer, and you'll be fine.
With the bulbs in, and the protective cap on, the moisture can't get away, even in the sun, it will come back, do as I described, and the moisture will stay away (at least for a long time).

Let me know why this keeps on happening with palio head lights and what is permanent soloution for this. My head lights are new one, it was the same issue with the old too. Should I seal the joints of head light with any seleant??:slayer::slayer:

I don't think so, just dry them as I told, the moisture will stay away for a VERY long time.
Just be sure the protective cap closes well, and it sealings are clean and in good condition.

I had to blow dry both headlight units of my Palio just once, 5 years ago, when I bought the car, hasn't come back since.

DON'T rinse the engine with a pressure washer, that's the only possible way, moisture can get to the headlight units i.m.o.

my palio's head lamps as well as the foglamps have this problem. the head lamps have this problem since quite sometime.

recently i found that the left hand side front fog lamp is getting moisture since i took the car to the mechanic to fix the horn behind the left hand side bumper. any solution to this problem? do i get it fixed in the same way as the head lamps? :confused:

The problem occurs with the headlights that are bought as spares.

The sure-shot way to fix this problem is

1. Use Silicone sealant (Grey or White) for the joint between the transparent fibre-glass and the housing i.e. the rear grey shell. Please do remember to cover the entire rim.

The leakage from front is usually towards the top ends, near the top mounting bolt which fits on the the radiator cross-bar support and towards the corners just above the small parking light .

2. Reaseal the black access covers (inner-side of the headlight housing) of the high-beam and low-beam access panels with a good rubber-based adhesive. Rubber sealent to be applied between the inner rubber-foam packing and the respective mating surface.

Again the rubber-foam packing has a very poor insulation index and hence usually wears out in a few months.


3. Subsequently once the highbeam & lowbeam BACK ACCESS COVERS are sealed, seal the exterior with RED Silcone Hi-Temp RTV sealant throughout. Let it dry for 24 hours and then assemble both headlights back on.

The leakage is essentially due to poor bonding material used by OEM suppliers. I am recommending RED Hi Temp Silicone sealant because it is used to make gaskets of diesel engines and can last the high temparture under the hood.

This is a very common problem with Palio 1.2.

Almost everybody in my neighbourhood had pointing out this manufacturing defect, I was planning to change both headlights
