Hi everyone!
First post here, excuse my bad english as it is not my main language.

I have a Fiat Siena 1.2 ELX from 2004 with around 280k km and it has some problems:

1)Instable idling (never when I start it in the morning). This issue is constant

2)Hesitation when accelerating/releasing the trottle. Lack of power below 2000rpm. This issue is inconstant. It varies from day to day.

3)Low MPG

I took it to a mechanic that found a faulty Lambda probe. That could explain these symptoms.
But I was wondering maybe there are some impurities in the gas tank that cause the instable idle (that's why it never happens in the morning). If so, how can I check and repair this?

Thanks for your input!

Hi, and welcome, :)

look in the Punto 2/B section, - same basic car..;)

your problem sounds like the idle control / throttle valve, https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-mk2-2b-guides/260605-1-2-16v-throttle-body-removal-clean-re-fit.html

there SHOULD be a fuel filter to keep debris from the engine,

Thanks!

I was thinking maybe the debris were preventing the fuel to flow freely in the tank. What do you think?

Would the Idle control/throttle valve explain bad mileage?
