Hi all, well i have done the timing ( i think ) on my 1608 twin cam ( from 38 year old car), lined up the pully mark( on crank pully) and set both valves to close( on piston 1) used the 2 marks on cam pullys( 2 little holes), all well so far but i noticed the rotor arm( its the round brown disc type) was pointing to number 4 lead on dizzy.......
am i correct in thinking it should be at number 1, strange thing is i had to remove head to clean inside cos it had sludge in the pistons( car not run for 5 years and guy put oil in pistons so they wouldnt sieze) and didnt touch the dizzy so presume its 180 degrees out, the actually runs but all be it jerky,
now i am scared to rotate the dizzy to get to number 1 lead on dizzy cap becaus there is a tippexed "T" on the pully and that is in the correct position for TDC on the markings, thats why i am asking for clarification.
i have read the manual and it states what i have said about positioning the crank, cams and pully......just bemused why there is a "T" on the dizzy pully but the rotor arm is pointing to number 4
If i turn the rotor arm 180 degrees and turn it over will it knack my engine....
any advice or suggestions a great help.
