I've got an old Fiat that I am restoring and have considered taking it to a sandblaster to remove the surface rust on the shell prior to painting.

The problem is that I don't have a trailer etc to move it so had considered doing it myself. Can you buy/rent one and if so has anyone any experience of this and is it worthwhile.

Any input much appreciated. Ta.

If it's an old Fiat the surface rust probably IS the shell :p

What model is it?

It's a Fiat 131, so rust is my arch enemy :bang:. A mate has a compressor that he says I can borrow, so I was thinking of hiring a sand blaster or something to strip the shell back without the hassle of moving it.

Would be very careful shot blasting the shell, you can cause damage pretty quickly to panels from what I understand. Maybe pay a professional with experience of blasting shells to do it for you?

I've recently bought a shotblasting pot to clean up some parts, have a 3hp compressor and a load of medium so might have a go on an old panel.

If you could let me know how you got on that would be great, pictures would be useful as well :).

Thanks for all input fellas, much appreciated.
