FIAT 126 ABARTH ENGINE

Heyup all!! just signed in2 this forum. thought i'd ask if any1 cud give me sum tech spec on a fiat 126 'abarth tuned' engine that i have. i'm in the process of building a car using this particular 'twin choked carb jobbie with alu rocker cover.Thinkin ov swappin it with the origional 126 engine Any info on this little air cooled demon wud be great. Also sum info on the 'abarth electronic start unit wiring wud b gud 2. STEVO.

Abarth can mean so many things! There maybe no internal difference just because it has a rocker cover! Do you know the history of the engine? What do you mean by abarth electronic start? Post a pic of it..

1987 126 FSM, 12" minilight style wheels, clear rear lights, smoked indicators.

Heyup matey!soz didn't reply asp, been busier than a scouser in a car park with a crowbar at 3 in the mornin i can tel ya!hehe!:D I meant 'abarth electronic ignition unit as majority ov fiat 126 specimens used conventional starting system didn't they??? nt 2 sure about the history ov the workhorse, part from the fact it waz bought as a 126 by me pa at auction sum yearz ago as a car b4 the bodywork decided 2 crumble like a piece ov toast being cooked on a skewer behind a tornado fighter jet on full throttle!!hehe:p engine been sitting quietly in the garden 4 a few years now along with aluminium 'abarth' steering wheel, maserati airhorns and other stuff in the old shed!!. nt checked out the insidez yet. Realy interested in this cos the mechanical parts inc steering wheel av got the name 'abarth' cast in2 them. I'll c iv i can get sum pics of the swine on2 the forum by 2mora. catcha L8r. cheers!!

OK, Im not sure what you mean by the Abarth electronic ignition system...[?]126s up to 1985 used a normal ignition system, after that the cars had a distributorless system. There are two coils, with a lead directly to each plug. The distributor as such has no leads, just a dust cap and inside no rotor arm, just points. Is that what you mean? If so thats a Polish car.

when you say you are thinking of putting an original 126 engine back in your 126 would you be willing to sell the one in your car at the moment do you know what engine cc it is ie 499cc/595cc/695cc/or700cc i am in the process of restoring a fiat 500 1970 but want to put a bigger engine in it but want to keep it air cooled but acually have a water cooled 126 703cc engine that i was going to use but didnt bother because i would like some ariganality please let me know many thanks

Well Daggy, it is well over two years later, so it would be unreasonable to expect a quick reply

Myself, I don't have information about the 126 Abarth (I never knew such a car existed). Have you tried www.carsfromitaly.net?
