Hey folks,

Hoping somebody can shed a little light on a problem with my Dads 1.8 petrol Matrix...

It was left standing for a couple of weeks recently (short stay in hospital/further time off work on the sick).

When he went to start it, it wouldn't go. Tried a jump start in case it was a duff battery - nope, nadda.

Anywhoo, had it recovered to a local garage who diagnosed valves stuck open. Probably due to all the oil draining back down into the sump (gravity hard work again...)

He's currently looking for a new job where the car is likely to be sat for 3, maybe 4 weeks at a time. It'd be a shame to sell it - it is a really nice car!

Anyone able to share any ideas as to what he can do to prevent it? Recovering the car once a month really isn't a viable option!!

(At least his old Citroen only leaked electricity and was capable of being jumped lol)

Yeah...that's what I thought!!

Unfortunately, they would only recover their own garage or Hyundai dealer.

The other possibility they suggested was cam belt...no chance!! I had managed to start it a few days earlier - but that was only a few minutes.
