measuring DC milliamps draw

hey all, trying to work out the draw of something, can't find much on the 'net about it.

read up on the 'net about disconnecting the neg battery lead, and letting the current flow through the multi meter in the neg post on the battery?

wanted to double check before i blew my multi meter up

cheers, Alex

Re: measuring DC milliamps draw

for amps it does need to be in line yes. if your only working out milliamps then you should be fine otherwise most only go up to 10a which is not enough for a car
