I had a previous generation Seat Toledo. That really was just like a Golf, because it was one, for far less money with much more kit. Excellent car though, much better stuck together than a Fiat.

You could get something "just like a Golf" with Skoda, Seat or Audi badges on. The last time I looked, even the Audi A3 was better value than a Golf.

And the new model looks like a cartoon version of the previous one. I'd still have one for free though.

Pants car.

Had a 1.6 Petrol one for a week on a 09 plate. Despised every minute of it. Was fairly economical but completely gutless. Even though it was economical I resented every litre of petrol it used due to it being sooo boring.

I'd rather have used twice as much petrol and used the coupe and at least enjoyed the journey and get there on time.

And whats the crack with having to have the clutch pressed for it to fire the engine up...

Yes I know how to start a car I don't need some whizz German engineer to make a computer to tell me to push the clutch down.

The Fiat Croma at least demands the same. I think it disconnects some of the gearing that would otherwise be connected even in neutral, so it reduces the load on the starter motor. I did read elsewhere of someone having trouble starting with a weak starter, and pressing the clutch while starting sorted it.

Having said all that, the Croma also allows you to start it by pressing the foot brake instead. Kind of disproves my theory really!

your accounts personnel... just like a golf... dull, boring, and expensive :p

Really don't understand what the grat hardship is with pressing clutch down to fire up the car....your gonna have to do it to select a gear anyway it just reduces the drag on the starter. I've done it for years on cars that don't need it.

im always a clutch pusher whenever i start any car... unless its auto... ive seen a few cars at work left in gear (companies... usually me that does it)... that jerk forward or do the non starting thing when someone goes to start it :p
