Try those stupid snake oil products like slick 50 etc. Think my local motorfactors has Slick 50 gearbox treatment.

ah yes this is where bo selecta ebayed a phone and specifically covered part of the manual to make the phone look like a better spec model than it was IIRC

p.s beau some pikey has stuck a 16v badge on the side of your car.
that would be citroen... there standard.
if you want to stop a noisy synchromesh at gearchange its pretty impossilble, but a whining gearbox or notchy change can be made a million times better by packing grease into in. no need to dump the old fluid, just squirt loads of grease in. make sure you use a safe grease (e.g. lithium based). once it gets up to temperature and the oil mixes with the grease it makes a great lubricant and you'll see the difference.
personally i would use castrol moly grease, if you can afford it.

iv bought some proper stuff you add to the gearbox oil, will try that.
is it on the saxo beau?
ours has a whiney box and if this solves it..... may give it a go.
The saxo box from new always felt like it was pretty much like you had to roll a six to get a gear.
I like the way the box refuses to go in reverse sometimes. This is solved by before going into reverse, select neutral, lift off the clutch, clutch in, select 3rd, then select reverse
