Mg Tf

My mate is going to look at one at the weekend the 1.6, so what problems to look out for? headgasket - is the best my to look for mayo on oil filler cap?

Obviously look at other common things, tyre wear, service history, bodywork, strange noises. but anyone know of other common problems with these?

Agree with the roof but not the other

They are awesome handly cars and will suprise a lot round a nice twisty road..

H/G is the main thing if it's gone walk away unless stupidly cheap (look at prices to fix )

Basically that's all you really hear about going wrong with these cars

Have a look at a few forums and you'll see..

P.s Makes sure it's a Trophy in Blue

Re: Mg Tf

i want one. its a very capable chassis and a really affordable way to get yourself a soft top coupe. if it wasnt a gay car i'd probably own one right now. i could probably be tempted by a blue VVC.

the k-series is a great performer, and easy to work on. replacing the head gasket is a doddle so dont be scared.

Re: Mg Tf

A friend of mine had one, he was ex.army, went to gym ever day built like a well you know the old saying, but we still slagged him off cos he still looked like a hairdresser in it, though maybe that was his highlighted hair lol, but to be fair when I drove it, it was brilliant, very capable chassis and with the Lotus throttle body on it breathed a lot better, his was a 1.8 earlier model with the hydra-whatever-they-feel-like-calling-it-now-suspension, but after somebody ran in the side of it he managed to get enough in insurance payout to get the front end from the later model grafted on which made it look really good.

I have also driven a late model beautiful blue metallic Trophy 160 round Knockhill a few years back as MG used to sponsor them, it being the later model had normal suspension but was brilliant round Knockhill which has some serious camber and elevation changes that exposes cars with nasty set ups.
