Audi Gearbox

Few month ago just before my dad bought his Rover, the Audi died.

driving along and he said it just started revving and wouldnt go anywhere.

i've stared it a few times and it seems to work slightly when cold then when it warms up it just revs.

he's on about scrapping it, was wondering how hard it would be to fix, might be a known fault but i can't see anything on the internet.

i'd be more than happy driving it instead of buying a small diesel myself.

cheers!

EDIT - NEVER THOUGHT, IT'S AN AUTOMATIC.

Re: Audi Gearbox

gearbox died (torque converter) its not unusual at high mileage. let me guess, it had over 120k?

haha lol didn't see that.

had a new torque convertor before we bought it, that's what i was thinking.

it has 160k on it.

i'm not even sure how to check the ATF fluid, audi thought it wise to put it underneath the car so it has to be jacked up if i remember rightly.

yeh, ever since i've been driving it, it was driven to the limit quite often lol.

anyway, i'm trying to find someone with VAG-COM to do me a favour and read the faults.

if that fails, the chance of finding an automatic gearbox nearby fairly cheap for an automatic diesel is less likely than winning the lottery.

to change the ATF fluid it has to be sent into a garage as the ATF has to be pumped in.

so F**king awkward
