Rs turbo oil?

hey all, bought some oil a few months ago for the escort (RS turbo '89)

found some in the garage but i'm not sure if it's for my dad's bike, the bikes on the tub making me think this lol.

but.. i was sure he had ran out of oil and the only oil in the garage should be the oil i bought for the RS.

it says 5100 ester 10W40 - 4T on it and it's made by motul.

can't seem to find which oil to use in it on the internet.

any ideas? thanks!

Re: Rs turbo oil?

Dont know if the RS will be covered on this but ford use a really weird grade of oil that is specific to fords only its really thinned down i think.

Its in halfords etc but whether it covers the older ford engines im not so sure you would have to check

4T means 4stroke, so its bike oil.

generally people use 10w60 Castrol RS on the RST's, but you can use 5w50, 10w40, 15w50 or 10w60 as long as it is fully synthetic.

technically 0w40 it isnt thick enough when cold, but it wont hurt anything.

well it was reccomended by a holfords employee, this was after they gave me semi-synthetic.

i've read a lot of RS owners use 10w60 so i'll get that next.

I think that is 0w30 you're thinking of. It's meant for the much more modern Zetec style engines, but would be way too thin for the old CVH lump in the RS Turbo. 10w40 is probably the ideal grade for the RST but you need to check with the manual or knowledgeable others to confirm.
