Yeah your probably right, I used to love the handling in my 156 the speeds I could corner were just scary at times . The road between sedgefield and darlington is awesome .

mk2 punto sporting 0-60=10.6 topspeed=107
mk2B punto sporting 0-60=9.3 topspeed=111

so you're saying a remap will take a mk2 from 10.6secs 0-60 down to significantly less than 9.9secs, i guess to "destroy" a vtr it would need ot be 9.6secs at the very most. if you honestly think remapping a 1.2 N/A can make that much difference you've been smoking crack.

if a remapped mk2B can almost keep up with a vts it would almost need to lose 1.7secs off its 0-60 from a remap, thats even crazier talk that suggesting the mk2 can lose a second.

dream on

even a mk2 vtr beats a mk2b sporting, the vts is out of its league.
actually, yes. A GSR induction kit and remap will comfortably take the 1.2 sporting to about 100 bhp, and YES, they DO take down mk1 VTRs in terms of acceleration - as the good people on pmk2 will attest to, and once i have mine done, i can personally prove it.

I wasnt entirely honest, cos i didnt mention the induction kit...

once again, we differ in opinions but you really need to stop trusting in reviews and figures as much, cos they can be misleading....

Re: no longer a fiat owner

if i listened to the pmk2 children i'd believe a 1.2 8v is faster than a vtr as long as i add a resistor and a few stickers

i drive a mk2 sporting almost every day. i've driven vtr's loads of times. basing it purely on that (ignoring the stats) i'd still say you'd need serious mods to make a mk2 "destroy" a vtr in a straight line, and it could never keep up with one on corners.

my car does 0-60 in 9secs but i cant destroy a mk1 vtr (i dont pull away until 80-90mph), so even with 100bhp a mk2 wont be able to either. keep up? yes. beat in a 0-60 drag? maybe by a very small margin. destroy? no way in hell, to destroy a car you need to be a couple of car length ahead by 60, and thats more than a second difference. its common sense tbh

Re: no longer a fiat owner

i really cant believe that you cant waste a mk1 VTR, they are only 90 horsies bet you were racing a modded one....

and given that a saxo and punto will weigh similar (saxo only 10kg lighter) i would have thought a 100 horsie punto would beat one in acceleration, if maybe not top speed because of lack of torqueage.

and i trust a select few on some punto forums to not "stretch the truth" and they tell me the same thing through experience.

arguing enough yet?

Re: no longer a fiat owner

as with many situations, and cars, sometimes it can be the driver that matters

someone could get in my car and drive it so slow, as they dont know the best point to change up, approach angles to corners etc, and how it handles.....

just as i could get in there car and be the same
