Re: Pug 306 GTI

yep they are n/a

they do cost a lot to run and maintain which was one of the reasons why the 306 range got the chop despite being a decent peugeot

the 306gti has had its day though now and is starting to look a bit dated

Re: Pug 306 GTI

I think they are a great engine (I used to own a Citroen Xsara VTS which has the same engine). They have a great amount of mid range and top end performance, not to mention they sound fantastic when you give them stick. The only downside I think it that they are bit thirsty. The cars themselves handle very well.

I don't think they would be anymore expensive to run then any other Euro brand, but my location probably give me a different perspective to you guys in the UK. You just need to make sure that they have been serviced properly, with things like timing belt changes done at the proper time.

Troy.

Re: Pug 306 GTI

the GTi6 is very underrated, and surprisingly capable. yes it looks like a 306, and it has the same crappy interior (only reason i didnt buy one is the interior) but as soon as you drive one you realise its a hell of a lot better than any other 306.

the 6speed gearbox is excellent with great ratios (knocks 1.6secs off the 5speed 0-60), the engine loves to rev and before you know it you're doing silly speed. the quoted figures dont paint a true picture, on a B road at speed its rapid, have no doubt. suspension and brakes are good so you dont have to crap your pants while you're doing it.

personally i think the 306 looks better than anything peugeot have sold since. yes its dated, but its aged very well compared to other cars from the 90s. sit it next to a focus or mk4 astra or stilo or mk4 golf and there is only 1 i could choose for its looks, the 306.

the only real problem is the interior, its still a 306 interior at the end fo the day. the dash is bloody awful, the seats are flimsy and crap, even half leather cant make them feel special. since you spend most of your time inside the car looking at the interior you want it to feel good, the 306 cant do that for you.

Re: Pug 306 GTI

looking for a "cheaper" car than my Stilo Abarth when I'm a student but not sure how much cheaper it is, not too bad on insurance, but it depends on fuel, repairs and tax as I think it falls in the new higher bracket next year

I can't be ding with a slow car, want something that will put a smile on my face.

Not too keen on the interior either, if I did get one then I'd rip out the front seats cos I'm not keen on half leather and get some decent bucket seats.
