Corrado

well i fancy a new project this summer, i may purchase this at the start of the summer and keep the stilo to drive in while working on this, mainly body, interior and a bit if ICE.

BUT... what i was wondering what people thought of it, i want a old car for my nxt car, something that aged well, the thing i have about new cars is they get really old quickly while old cars are respected after a certain age. the two ive had in mind is either the e30 3 series or corrado, im leaning toward to corrado atm for a few reasons, ive about 3 grand to get a car so would like to spend from 2 - 2.5k and use the rest for possibly a broke one, spares or repairs sorta job, to mix and match the best condition parts and use parts from to experiment with ideas without wrecking a good part

i love my stilo, i have always loved their shape and the price bracket, i just dont think you can get a car for that sort of money with half the spec. i hate the outplayed focus, 206 etc etc etc, lol. but i dont like everything being electronic, i want a more minimal car that i can work with if that makes sense

any suggestions for other cars would be welcome lol

Re: Corrado

Corrados are fantastic VW killed it off far too soon. A reall classic alternative would be a mint big bumper Golf 2 GTI?

Re: Corrado

i know of a highly moddified wonderfully styled corrado g60 with an engine problem, its the 1.8 super charged version and has had loads of engine mods.. if it was running spot on it would be leaning towards 250bhp

1.8 PG
C&R Big Valve Cylinder Head
PSD / G-werks Full Blend G60
Schrick 268/276 Cam
65mm toothed Pulley
Red Tops
FMIC
H2o / Meth Injection
Boost Return
Twin Inlet Induction kit
G-werks Remap
G-werks S/S Manifold
Vr6 1st / 2nd

i think he could be persuaded to let it go for 4k

i love corrados, but they are pointless unless they are the VR6 or G60

Re: Corrado

cheers for the help

nah, i knew quite a few people, close mates into the dub scene, two drive mk2 golfs, one of them won something in edition 38 and was mag featured, also there are a few jetta's, mk1 and 3 golfs and ventos, but the corrado shape appeals to me and ive seen a really really good deal, too good 2 b true of course but what the hell, lol. insurance company will be phoned tomorrow

4k is too much, i can get a g60 for near a grand in the right places, that leaves me a lot of money in the difference to do what i want, lol.

least the comment so far are good

4K and it isn't even running properly?

Nearly as funny as the guy with the K plate WRX on 100,000 miles wanting 4K for it as a trade in yesterday. Did I mention it had been a Cat C?

Re: Corrado

might not be running properly but its absoloutly mint.. 15 year old car and paint is still mint, and has had ALOT of engine work. worth closer to 6k wen its running probably. end of the day, its all about what people think its worth and what they willing to pay, and people are willing to pay 5k for it when it aint even running right cos its mint

Re: Corrado

i love the corrado, but i wouldnt want to own one because the cost far outweighs the benefit, and you can only spend each pound once. you need to know them well to avoid nasty surprises, its an enthusiast's classic, which means money pit.

Re: Corrado

Hmmmmmmm like those wheels. Been looking at old golfs and corrado's. You want to go out and buy VW Golf magazine. Its about £4, but this month it is insane. And you can get recon engines and **** for rathercheap.com

Re: Corrado

see jug this is why im looking to find out a bit about them to try and avoid nasty suprises, wat sort of problems do you know of?

i dont plan on doing anything to the performance of the car, the only thing i would have is a set of coilovers, but after all the cars are up to 19 years old so i know im going to have some trouble, supercharger etc. but i wana find out about this so i know wat im getting in to

Re: Corrado

rust is a very big problem, especially where you cant see it. heater matrix leaks aren't uncommon. electrical faults are increasingly common. parts availability is surprisingly good, but not cheap. mpg is bad, insurance is high.

Re: Corrado

If you're looking at a G60 that's been modded and isn't running properly you need to rule out the supercharger as being the problem unless you fancy a £2K bill.

The G-Laders do make a glorious noise though...
