| Re: Clio Sport I drove the old 172 cup and wasn't that impressed but then I was driving a Westfield at the time. Had another go a few years later and did quite like it. Bit of a nasty french interior but goes well.

| The Thrill of Driving.... | Re: Clio Sport You're having a laugh right? A JTD Stilo in same league as a Clio 172, did you forget to take the handbrake off or not take it above 5000rpm? It's not a diesel so has a rev range maybe something driving a turbo diesel has made you forget that there is power above 3500rpm ![]() I've driven a fair few 172/182 and Cups now and they never fail to amaze me that you get that much performance for so little. A heavy clutch, that's what proper performance cars are meant to be, have lots of feel. I hate the over light clutches you get in many of today's cars, the Clio clutch is light & for those who are scared of R5GTT's clutches, now that was heavy, but again so full of feel. The thing with Clio's is they have VVT, so you need to take them above 5000rpm to make them really fly, pretty much like all multi valve VVT type high power cars, but the Clio unlike others in particular Honda's actually has low down torque making them very economical for the performance as you can ride along happily on the torque, you can get up to 40mpg from one on long runs and even on shorter blasts mid 30's is easy. I know its hard on a test drive because not many folk are happy driving someone else's unfamiliar car or vice versa have someone drive there car in a manner that extends the cars capabilities.
