Alfa Mito

http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...ncepts/231790/

Is this what the press were originally calling the new Alfasud or new Alfa junior?

What do you reckon on it?

Re: Alfa Mito

Yup, that's what was known as the Junior concept alright.

I think it's gorgeous. It's like a hatchback 8C

Re: Alfa Mito

when I saw the front I was immediately nursing a semi, but when I saw those tail lights I went back into limp mode

Re: Alfa Mito

yeah that is what we called the junior, bascially a grande punto with good suspension, and a lot better looking.

i'm reserving judgment until i can play with one, but i'm hopeful.

i know i wont like the height or the modern euro shape, but thats the way it is these days and i will have to get over it eventually.

Re: Alfa Mito

read in Autoexpress that they'll start off with the usual 1.4 T-jet petrol and 1.9 multijet but there's a 1.8 turbo in the pipeline that will produce up to 230bhp and should include the Q2 limited slip diff. That's more like it .
Plus, they reckon in 2010, to mark Alfa's centenary, the Duetto roadster could go into production. I think this is no more than a drawing at the moment though .

Re: Alfa Mito

the 1.8 turbo rumours are everywhere, i suspect autoitalia started it, but its completely unfounded.

i do believe the twin turbo 1.4 t-jet is going to happen because that info seems to have come from fiat, although that is no guarantee it is anything other than a fantasy they had.

fingers crossed for either.

Re: Alfa Mito

It's always going to be a delicate balancing act when you are trying to run 3 different models from 3 makers in the same class. Having said that, VW manage to sell the Golf, A3, Leon and Octavia quite successfully. Auto Express seemed to think Lancia's entrant in the GP floorpan family would be the Fulvia we've seen as a concept. Maybe that's the best route to take. If they can make the MiTo exclusive enough then they can keep the supply and demand balance right then it will do very well.
As for the looks, personally I think it looks distinctive and pretty damn sexy. I would be interested to see if we get a family like the Alfasud, 3-dr. 5-dr. and Sprint coupe.

low roof, wide body and angular lines, bascially an agressive looking box on wheels. the kind of thing that kills pedestrians at 20mph. i dont want to drive a bubble.

Re: Alfa Mito

Car styling like that from the folded paper era died a long time ago jug, pedestrian safetly legislation sort of killed that one off.

Re: Alfa Mito

i believe pedestians should keep off the roads. it worked fine only a few years ago, back in the days when pedestrians were expected to keep to footpaths and roads were for cars. why should cars change? pedestrians should change instead, and keep off the bloody roads!

I agree, peds should keep off the road. But it's just not that simple is it jug.

It's not ethical to produce a vehicle knowing it would kill/mame/severely injure a ped on impact.

Re: Alfa Mito

I'd just like to say that this car is going to ruin my replacement choice for my GP early 09, it was simply going to be an upgrade to a sensible 1.9mj sport Bravo... now I'm not so sure.

I love Alfa's, always will.
