it may be, mercury grey was popular, but it looks far too clean for original paint so i assumed it had been painted. if it hasnt then you might have the best condition original mk4 cabby on british roads. the arches look perfect. i'd like to see a decent engine bay pic.

how are you going to MOT it? do you know someone who does dodgy tests?
well the bloke waxed it every week, one of the arches has a very small amount of bubbling which my mate can sort out, just took an engine bay pic, yes i know someone who does dodgey MOT's lol but i'm getting a real one (y) why would i need a dodgey one?

its a different engine to the one on the V5, anyone who gives you an MOT is breaking the law. with wrong numbers you get away with it every time (no one ever checks), but for something as obvious as a turbo its hard to find a testing station where they're willing to take the risk.

oh right well the bloke said he didnt have a problem MOTing it and hes had it since 2002, not sure what hes done ill have to give him a call.

Thing with RS Turbo owners tho is they are the worst and I mean WORST when it comes to over estimating BHP.
Amount of times my marea has beaten "200BHP" RS turbos is unreal.
Not saying there are no 200bhp ones out their just that the owners of them proberly think they are 300bhp. ;)

Just about pished ma pants reading that one, so so true!!

Induction kit and chip wow there is 70 additional ponies:D

If your watching the same video as me i'm sure the EVO well and truely raped that RS to well over 100mph.....

Game over long time ago, if it was me racing against it I would have shut dowwn at 120mph, with a 1/4 Mile lead :p

Didn't look like a 1/4 mile lead to me?

Where have I said that the Escort is better than an Evo? :bang:

Yes, in a 1/4 mile drag the Evo would've p****d all over it, but that wasn't the point- it was a drag from 0-160. On a standing start there's no way a front-wheel drive car can beat 4wd off the line. If they were cruising however, the RS would easily pull away due to the power difference at the wheels (remember both cars had similar figures, but the Evo will have far greater transmission losses). ;)

Plus, give the EVO a tune up and it will rape the RS... Sorry, but, the EVO is in a different league.

Isn't that true about any car tuned more than another?

By the way, the Ford people aren't as blinkered as some. Many actually run Evo's or BMW's as second cars as they recognise that Ford's reliability is poor, at the end of the day it's something to have a laugh about with your mates.

you talk sense ;) i know it wont be reliable so i go and run a fiat lol :p don't forget how much Evos are compared to old school RS Turbos too.

Difference is the Evo can't go full moo off the line otherwise the clutch would just explode! you need to roll it a wee bit before flooring it, yeah you'll see people launching them at 1/4's but the clutch won't last long.

That particular Escort or any car with 250+p going through the fronts without traction control will just smoke so care has to be taken to get good times.

Regarding the insurance- mine was an xr3i which I converted with an RS engine, stage 2 turbo, induction kit, exhaust, cam etc, all mods declared (and on the log book), I was 20 at the time with 2 years NCB....

Cost me £70 extra, for the year, than before (paying monthly)!:D

After some time laid up I've began a minor resto on the escort, doesn't need much at all really! Got some st170 discs and Mondeo calipers for better braking :)

I remember why I stopped coming on FF so much after comments like these (I said mine when me and my dad jointly owned it) sigh

And everything always seemed to turn into an insurance debate for some reason
