I went in one on saturday and....

That thing is fking mental! When it was damp it was impossible to get all 320 torques to the floor (3rd gear wheel spins!) But when it dried up a bit it rips your t*ts off! It manages a 6.8 sprint to 60 but its just not that simple with a diesel. First gear gets you up to speed and when you floor it in 2nd all hell brakes loose. Same with 3rd and 4th. It pulls hard in 6th as well, with 80mph hovering just on peak torque in 6th.

We humilated a megane 1.9dci who was out on a test drive. I wonder if he bought the car?

Its built well, has a few sqeaks, but hey, I drve a punto.

Looks the biz as well. A 130 sport remapped is a little bit faster than a standard cupra. A cupra can be mapped to even faster than that BUT costs arount 3-4 grand more. I am going to have to have a serious look at the sports when my loan is paid up.

So first you were comparing a 205 bhp and 320 lb/ft against a possible 120 bhp Megane and seemed it worth a comment to say it was humilated?! Funny that! Then if you want to compare it against MeganeSport diesel, allow for that to be remapped also in which case I doubt there will be much of anything between...

dito that :p

remap two different cars with similar discplacements and states of tune, and in the same catagory, so ibiza would be against a clio, not a megane, as that would be against a leon. then compare, and you'll just be coming up 9's and 6's:rolleyes:

What was the before and after ponies of the Cupra TDi?

You can get huge gains but budget for clutches!

Liam

160 before and 200 after. Clutch is rated to 310 torques so 320 running through it isnt too bad at all. There is one that can take 400, but to warrent it you need a hybrid turbo.

As for the humilation factor some people here seem to be forgetting one thing.

ITS AN IBIZA.

If I tried to give it some and got my arse handed to me on a plate by a debadged hatchback then I would be annoyed. I wouldn't think

"Oh that car obviously has a remapped PD160 lump in it, thats nothing compared to my measly 130, I guess I should buy a reampped Megane Renault Sport TDCi, then, as the engines are in a similar state of tune, I would fare better and potentially win."

Was with 2 people in the car that time. But then, diesels dont excel at 0-60, 20-80 however is a different story

The thing is FWD as well ? well if it is, try getting to 60 quick anyway...
Sounds nice anyway :p

hence why you put 14" steelies on it! £20 a tyre

found that with a few cars we've owned, usually been either big torquey six pots, or turbo petrols, or bigger diesels. on the fwd cars they've eaten tyres at 8k intervals even when driven gently.
the rwd and 4wd cars (audis and bm's and a merc (merc =FRIGGIN AWEFUL POS)) they eat both front and rear tyres evenly (almost) at about 18k. £80 a tyre an all (n)
might have something more to do with local roads, from our village the roads in all directions for about 3-5miles are badly VERY BADLY resurface dressed with chippings, which are erroded in some places and ramped up in others. been like it for years :bang:

You'll have to wait and see :p Might do some videos of it inside and out aswell.

I like the idea of this non-Fiat section - I remember pushing for it ages ago with no luck! Anyway keep up the reviews on different cars  They're good to read.

Yeah its scary. When I first saw one (bout 95) I thought they looked absolutly awesome. While the still cut it IMO, they cut it in the same way a ferrari testerossa cuts it, or a ford model T. Oldskool kool!
