Hi

I am thinking of buying a used car that my wife can use.

She has expressed an interest in both the Panda and 500.

I don't want anything older than 5 years but would like to build up my knowledge of any common faults to look out for viewing these cars.

Can anyone help or direct me to where I should look on the forum ( or elsewhere ).

Cheers in advance.

If you read too much into any car you won't buy anything, both my parents have 2009 and 2011 Pandas, great little cars cheap running costs and better than anything in their segment for the Money, I know nothing about 500's other than you are paying a premium for the looks, a 2 year old Panda with low mileage should be a steal compared to other makes, good luck

Hi.
The 500 is based on the panda. Has inferior durability due to styling compromises..AND you pay for the privelidge

The 1.2 petrol is a tough little engine..but there were engine management issues with poor fuelling/driveability

Not all cars were badly effected..but messed up a good driver experience.

The diesel and twinair have complexity against them..but could be useful for other reasons.

I'd go for a Panda.
Fuel type depends on usage, if you do mostly short trips, don't buy a diesel.
Remember that like most forums, people post when they have a problem, not when all is well so for every complaint there will many more working fine.
