Hi all I'm a new member to the group I own a fiat 500 pop and I love it . How ever I have water coming through the passengers door some how as the door arm is wet when it rains . I can't find it any where any advice would be most appreciated as it's now starting to get the passenger side rear floor wet. Please help thanks

Hi. And welcome.

Not a common issue.. AFAIK

Probably a damaged rubber seal on the roof..

From the drivers side blutak some kitchen towel on the roof to doorvtop join..
Ideally above the handle (obvious drip point)

The towel will show watermarks..even once dried out..

Charlie . Oxford

Are you sure its the door itself? water behind the passenger seat has been reported several times as a failed rear screen washer pipe that runs along that side?
Have a friend with a hose pipe or pressure washer blast the side of the car and see if you can see where it may come in?

Hi. Thanks for your help. Already checked the rubber seals around the door and there is nothing wrong with them. That's why I'm puzzled. I've had water all around them and I've even lined the window with paper and nothing . Seam tI'm be just soaking the arm area of the door when it rains . Ran my hands along the top of the car inside and it's not wet. I really don't get how it's coming in thanks

If it's not coming in from elsewhere in the car, then the problem is either with the fit of the window glass, or the fit of the door itself. It's a process of elimination, really - if you sit inside the car whilst someone else runs a hose over the area, you should be able to pinpoint the problem.

It's possible the door itself is out of true; this is usually the result of poorly repaired accident damage, but can be caused by someone with malicious intent trying to break into the vehicle. A colleague once had this happen on a nearly new BMW; he took it to the service department and was told to go into the showroom and have a coffee. When he came back, they'd fixed it; He asked how, and the service chap just said "you don't want to know ;)".

Basically you use brute force to bend the upper frame into the required shape (with the glass down, of course). Knowing how much brute force to apply, and where to apply it, is the key.

Thanks everyone I will do some investigating and let u know the outcome if I find one :)

If it's ONLY behind the seat not in the front passenger well, try operating the rear screen washer, there should be a reasonable quantity of fluid rather than a trickle, if you screen fluid has a fruity smelling additive it may be easier to smell if it's that?

How would the arm be wet then? Perhaps it's running down between the glass and the external seal and is somehow getting caught by the inside of the door trim and seeping out at the arm

Thanks I will get it all looked at and see what happens , also have a water leak
In the boot both side of the car :( I'm feeling quite gutted now as only owned the car for 10 months

I did nothing on there , so it's a mystery really , gonna
Try what everyone has suggested and go from there thanks all :)

I think the top of the door is out of true. Mine was after I jammed my replacement door into the boot of my Nissan Juke. I've now bent it back into shape and it fits fine. When you roll the window up dues it clunk when it gets to the top? If so, it might be going up too far which is what mine did. I could actually see daylight from inside the car.

Ok
Thanks someone reverserd into the side of me in a car park and done some
Damage had it all reapaired but science then its let water in

Could these leaks be related ?
If the car is normally parked with the front and wet side lower than the rear then perhaps water is running behind the roof lining from the boot leak and exiting around the passenger grab handle ?
Could even be getting in around the aerial and tracking down the cable (assuming it goes to that side?
The roof lining does not look waterproof so this seems unlikely but maybe possible ?

Hi everyone thanks for all your help. I'm away on holiday at the
Moment so the investigations will start when I get back . I will let u all know the outcome of what I find
