Hi everyone new member here wonder if anyone out there can help I have a fault continuing with the scudo I have eveyso often it loses power despite the engine running which leads to little or no movement with the vehicle and dark grey smoke coming from the exhaust this can last seconds to minutes and seems to clear if engine turned off and on again never happens when taken to a garage and so far have been unable to tell me what it might be

I know nothing about your particular car, however .. is it a diesel?

The symptoms you describe fit a blocked/faulty EGR valve. That's the exhaust gas recycler - which recycles a limited amount of exhaust gas back into the engine.

My wife has a 2.2 diesel Saab and twice in the past 5 years it has experienced sluggishness and chucking handfuls of sooty smoke out of the exhaust. Removing and cleaning the EGR did the trick.

Hopefully somebody with the same car as you will have some input here.
