Hi all. I'm a new so be patient if I've posted this incorrectly. Basically I own a Seicento Sporting 2003 covering just 48k miles. Until yesterday everything worked fine. Now without warning the bootlid won't shut. It just bounces as if there's no lock on it at all! It should have that reassuring clunk as the lock engages. I don't know why it has suddenly decided to fail. What's more worrying, I have to leave the car unlocked as locking it sets off the alarm. Any ideas/ remedy about getting the boot to lock. Thanks.

Not sure if it is the same or similar to the Cinq, but mine broke last year and it took me a while to realise what had broken. Looking at a pic of a new one made it obvious!
It was the white plastic part of the lock on the inside of the boot lid.

Got a new one, took a couple of minutes to swap over.

Had to tie the boot shut with string on the inside until the new part arrived.

Hi David mine has become increasingly difficult to close and have to really slam it shut. Would you mind telling where you got the white plastic part of the lock from? I think I'll get one. Thanks

Hi, and welcome to FF, :)

several options..
maybe the release cable / mechanism is stuck open..so it will not latch.

just use the round shaft of a screwdriver to operate the latch mechanism,
then the cable to unlock / unlatch

failure of the in-hatch mechanism as other posters..

is it certain the key in the rear hatch hasn't been turned..??

I've attached pic of my broken one (on the left) with the new replacement (on the right).

I've just checked and the Sei boot lock is different.
So my post above is probably no help at all...!!!

If yours is broken, Sei boot lock is p/n 46512188

It helps me David! Mine is a Cinq so just wondered where you got yours from so I can get a replacement. Thanks

On the sei body mounted catch there is a stupid metal rod thing which gets bent when you put stuff In the boot. Carefully bend it back? It happened on my car.
