Hi changed the bottom pulley and new belt to my punto 1.3 multijet but still sounds abit nosey does it need time to settle in ?

Belt looks like it's jumping ? Auto tensioned what should I do ?

Is noise reduced?
Yes change tensioner if you want.

No noise is still there with new belt and bottom pulley belt jumpy!

Is this a continuation of a thread you started under different title?

It was but done the work today and its still the same so wasted a load of money and still have the problem?

Always best to continue with original thread or people won't know what's going on.

Hi Paul,

agree with Jack, your post is a bit messy... What was the original reason why you changed the belt/pulley ? I guess it's noise, but how have you established where it was coming from ?
A "jumpy" belt can come from belt being too long (tensioner is at its end) or the belt is overeloaded. Can be the tensionner itself also. Hard to tell from here...

Regards, Bernie

I changed the post because it was under cam chain noise
And not bottom pulley! The belt I put on was 1320 the old belt was a 1323 so don't think it's the belt don't feel like there is a lot of tension on the belt !

Yes that makes sense.
But list all your symptoms and what you have done so far , so people have a chance of knowing what is going on

3mm longer maybe..;)

I take it you took the precaution of removing the OLD BELT, and running briefly to check it was all nice and quiet before ordering the bits.

So finally, is it a belt / pulley or cam chain noise ?
I like the idea of running the engine with belt off to compare the noise, brilliant !

When the car is rev to 1.5 revs it makes a noise but can't make out were it's coming from was told it was the bottom pulley

The noise is coming from around the bottom pulley should I change the pulley tensioner to make the belt tighter would that help with the noise .

If it's making the noise with the auxillary belt o removed then anything you do to the belt will make no difference.

Is the noise a noise all engines exactly the same as yours makes?
How old your car?
How many miles has it done?
Has it been serviced correctly?
Is the cam belt due to be changed?
Has the cam belt Recently been changed?

Has the crankshaft pulley bolt become loose? Very important this is not loose.

The as done 960000 it's a cam chain
Service by fiat not long had a oil changed
When I changed the bottom pulley locked tight the bolts in so can't see it being that .
