Hey guys.

So, we're new here, and we shamefully have let our little Seicento Sporting sit un-loved in our garage for 5 years after the clutch cable went on us. :nutter:.

Now we are on a mission to get her back up and running, and we want to do it all ourselves. :idea::slayer:

Now comes the tricky part - We know nothing about mechanics, and so we are massively out of our depths, but we want to learn as we go.
We're not stupid, we know how to follow instructions (ESPECIALLY if there's pictures to go with it) and generally very good at general handy work etc etc blah, blah.

We have looked through the forum and seen some great posts, and so we look forward to getting her back up and running, hopefully with the help of some passionate and experienced fiat users here.

All we ask is that you please don't judge us if we ask a stupid question, or don't quite understand any mechanical lingo along the way.

Hi there, glad you are trying to revive a much loved car, so many people let cars become abandoned and eventually scrapped.

As yourselves I am also on here to learn how to repair and maintain my car, there are many good guides about and many other users who have already fixed the part you are stuck with trying to fix and they are happy to help/advice.

Look forward to see your revival build! :)

The manuals are available for download on this site, so thats a starting point.

First question for you, is it the multi point injection or single point injection?

Find the downloads section and download the manuals for your car .
Read the drivers handbook.
Then read anything to do with servicing.
There should be plenty of pictures which are essential.

Single point or multi point injection should the be clear to you.

Following that come back with questions.

This makes me feel really stupid - Downloaded the owners manual and the Seicento Handbook, which look to be the same thing, and I can't see how this makes it clear as to whether our car is multipoint or singlepoint.. What is that referring to?..

Multi point = 4 injectors, one for each cylinder fed by a fuel rail.

Single point = 1 injector inside the throttle body, fuel line direct to the TB with the return also directly attached to the TB.

Sorry I haven't read the owners hand book. I don't have a seicento but no excuse could have checked.

Try Google multi point fuel injection
Then Google single point fuel injection.
Exactly as reallycinq posted it's just a way of saying if engine has one fuel injector which feeds all of your four cylinders or.... Four fuel injectors , one for each of four cylinders.
Google how a 4 stroke petrol engine works too. There are some good videos/animations of this

Easiest way to tell if it's mpi/spi that's factoring in that the car is totally standard,

Mpi: will have a round airbox on top of the engine

Spi: will have a square airbox

As I noticed on your other post about a clutch cable you said it was a 2000 reg, basically slap bang in the middle of the change over year so if you need to buy engine parts it's handy to know because,
If you have round airbox you need parts for 2000- onwards
And square 2000- below
