Hi All
The name is Eric, I'm a new member here, An aussie ex mechanic living in France, and looking for some help to repair an '03 Doblo 1.9 diesel.
With about 120k km It's been a good car up 'till about a year ago when a water pump seized, taking the timing belt with it.. you can imagine the result. The missus saw it as an excuse to get someting better, but I refused to throw the (not so) old girl away.
Anyway it's been in the yard for about a year now, so time to put it back on the road. Fell onto this site loking for a manual, and might hang around for the odd bit of advice.
Anyway, I'm going to pull the head off and see if it is reparable, or to throw in a second hand motor.
Anyway, that's my Stroy in a nutshell

bon jour

second hand motor will be cheaper and less aggro , only my opinion don't slate me.

Its very very boring to rebuild a head ,new valves ,new guides if they've split, seat recut if new guides, seals ,bolts, head gasket etc . reassemble and then find engine runs badly, if at all, and burns masses of oil because the vales have crushed the piston ring lands trapping the piston rings.

So.. I bought a second hand motor.. what an adventure that is proving to be.. will start a thread about it in the approporiate forum.
But suffice to say this is my last ever Fiat..

I'm intrigued can't wait for next update.
Fiat are much like any other manufacturer so looking forward to finding out what has put you off.

Check his update...

Looks like he had a 105hp model and then bought a replacement which turned out to be a 130hp model... im sure i read this earlier.

Not just a 130, but another series. 2 motors, same block but otherwise nothing in common...
