Hi and welcome to the forum .

You almost certainly have the extremely common hatch wiring fault. See this thread.

Unless you are handy with tools, it's time to find an auto electrician.

Re: Boot not working/heated rear window

Is hatch wiring normally covered by warranty (used car warranty)?

If done properly by an independent auto electrician, in the order of 100-125. Anything done for less than this is likely to be a bodge, and will fail again after a short period of time.

A lasting repair requires all the wiring passing through the grommet to be replaced with an extra flexible type of cable; repairing this with standard automotive cable won't give a permanent fix.

The terms vary depending on the provider but I'd have thought generally not.

You'd need to read the small print of the warranty; I've attached a clip taken from one supposedly comprehensive typical third party warranty which clearly excludes all wiring. As an aside, that warranty would exclude at least 90% of what folks commonly post about here when having problems with their 500. The consensus of opinion with regard to such warranties is that they are easy to buy, but difficult to successfully claim against.

Some, but not all, of those who had this problem in the third year of the new car warranty were refused a repair by Fiat and had to pay for this out of their own pocket. Quite a few were bodged back together and soon failed again; at least one person here paid for two repairs before trading the car in at the end of its third year.

More recently, there have been numerous reports from folks who've encountered this problem and found evidence of previous, poorly completed repairs.
