Hi all
Can someone give me advise, I'm changing brake pads on a 500 lounge and looking at caliper set up there are 2 bolts top & bottom (no pin bottom) are these Hexagon and if so what size.
Thanks for any help

Hi!
I have a 1.4 sport so it has discs all round. I recently changed my discs and pads and they have two bolts on the back of the callipers, one at the top and one at the bottom. If I remember correctly they're about a 13mm bolt. Make sure you are careful when you undo them as they are usually very tight and I had the spanner jump on me a few times as I had to push very hard. Its worth "breaking" the bolts first by hitting the spanner a few mm round with a spanner to loosen them up. Good luck, hope it goes okay for you :)

Pretty much as described by the other forum members. I swapped out the pads on a 1.2 about 3 years ago. It's a really easy diy job for even a basic home mechanic. I took me 30 minutes to do both sides. Don't lose that pin!

Clearly make sure if you are doing this job yourself that you take all the appropriate safety measures. Never just support the vehicle on its own jack, preferably use a trolley jack with axle stands and do the job on level ground. Basic stuff I know, but I've seen home mechanics do the most stupid of things. Also, if you don't already own one, I recommend buying a Haynes Manual as it will show you the steps you need to take and importantly, give you the correct torque settings for doing up those important bolts.

Don't confuse the caliper (bracket ) bolts with any others?
Frupi, stupid mechanic, my dad worked for a glass manufacturer a customer complained their casserole dish broke when he used it to support his car whilst working on it, true story.

Not sure whether to laugh or cry.......

I forgot to mention copper grease and cleaning the slider pins thorougly before reassembly.

Good idea to carefully inspect the discs at the same time........
