Hi , we have just bought a grande punto active sport 1.4 as a first car for our daughter , the problem is that the steering wheel was a bit tatty and worn so I got a better looking one off ebay and when I went to change it I had to cut the air bag wires to get the wheel off and reconnected them with a block connector plugged everything back in and refitted the airbag , now the airbag light is on the dash and the stereo controls and horn don't work , does anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong , thanks Pete .

Hi Pete,

have you tryed removing the dash airbag warning with MES/FES ? Regarding the failure it seems that not much is still functionning, have you double checked for missing/wrong wiring ??

Rgds, Bernie

If the steering wheel was identical, then it is likely that a proxy alignment is necessary, to make the computer accept the 'new' wheel. Needs MES (MultiECUScan software).

If the wheel is different, having or not having stereo controls, or any other difference, getting them to talk to each other may be difficult, or impossible. If you are 'adding' functions, I think not possible, but if losing functions, may be possible to 'delete' them using MES.

Connecting airbag with a block connector is risky, as voltage changes may affect its operation. They all have connectors that can be unplugged.
