Hi just got a 2007 GP 1.2 and have done a oil/filter change and air filter. car started fine shortly after. Then changed some rear bulbs, and now car wont start, Starter doesnt kick in, just a buzzing and engine light flashing. any suggestions please?

This section is to introduce yourself. It's not so good to post a technical question here, since it is your first post :(

hi really sorry for that error, saw other post/threads for issues and just thought it was ok. but not so. So yes first post on this forum, only had car a little while ,although had a Uno and few punto's mk1s some years back. So a big Hello from Berkshire.

Huuummm,

servicing car and replacing bulbs: doors open, lights on, radio maybe on... if the battery is dying it could get almost flat quite quickly ! How old is the battery ?
Anyway, Digger's advise is (as always) very valuable, I guess it solved lot of similar issues ! While doing this check verify the body grounding as well, this is a very simple jumper cables trick.

BTW: welcome on board !! @ robdyk, welcome too and Sabrg wasn't at the wrong section, he just messed-up a bit, so be clement ;-)

The symptoms you have are 100% in line with either a dead battery OR more likely corroded earth cables between the battery and gearbox/chassis.

DO NOT replace the battery !! check the cables first (a visual inspection is usually not enough!!!!!!!!)

100 % agree,

hook a jumper starter cable from NEGATIVE battery port to the gearbox casting, ENSURE GOOD CONNECTIONS ARE MADE, if problem disapears you got a bad earthing cable, simple trick hey ??

hi All, Thank you so much for the advice ..., not what I was expecting, but yes turns out battery was flat, but now charged again and all ok.
one happy daughter.... Thanks again. :)

Glad if we could help Sabrg45 (BTW I hate unsigned threads),

but it not normal that a battery gets flat; either it is dying (if it happens in winter it IS dying) or charging circuit has a problem... Need to investigate anyway, next time She get stuck somewhere with a dead car, Daughter might not be so happy to his Dad ;-).
Thanks for having let us know, it's so rare !!

Regards, Bernie
