Hi all
Hope someone can help!
I have a 63 reg 500l which recently when driving the radio/cd screen & music just turns itself off, goes blank for about 5 seconds and then both screen and music come back on.
This then works for about 2minutes and resets itself again.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

Sorry to bump this up but has anyone else experienced this?

This started happening to me yesterday too - Fiat 500L MPW - what the heck. Advice would be appreciated. It cuts off my phone calls too when it shuts down.

Yes cuts off my calls too. I called dealer who told me it would be £48 just to inspect it so want to avoid paying a fortune if there is a quick fix.

anybody with FIAT software, can ;

1, scan for errors
2, reset the system

it's possible it'll need an update.. which would be dealer - or an up to spec specialist..
where are you / the car based..??,
Charlie - Oxford

Fiatfo it's a nightmare. It's a pity the warranty is so short on Fiats. My car is only 26 months old too. I've always had Fiats but they've always suffered electrical problems. Keep me posted on any developments your end.

I'm in Sandbach. I went to local garage who didn't really have an answer and said could be loose wires and can take it out and have a look, just want to avoid paying twice if it is software and not a lose wire but disagree paying £48 to the dealer to be told that's what's needed then £ to actually do it

Hi All, a wee update from my end. I phoned my usual auto electrical guy to look at it, but he said it would have to be looked at by a Fiat dealership. I took my car to a fairly local dealership today and the unit is faulty, so they're going to order up a replacement and it will be fitted under warranty - I had only four weeks left of warranty so was very lucky indeed. The unit won't arrive for a week or two apparentlly (coming from Italy) so I will of course report back after the new unit has been fitted.

Same problem on my 2 month old 500L Lounge. Radio wont switch off. no controls to it work, display is Fiat Logo. Dealer not aware of other complaints even though FF has plenty on the forum.

I'd say it should be replaced under warranty if faulty. It's fine the dealer saying that they are unaware of any problems, but they should deal with your issue on an individual basis. Let me know how you get on.

Dealer going to order new radio which could be 2 weeks or so. Promised me a replacement car for the duration my 500L is in Dock.

New radio arrived and fitted. Fitting took minutes, setting up and installing updates somewhat longer. Working OK now.
Hi, great news - you have a new system and all working okay. Same for me. New system and all working perfectly. Mine was replaced under warranty (had two weeks left, so very lucky)

Great. My warranty was only from November 2016. Just wondering how many more Radios have had to be replaced?
