Hi,

I'm a new member. I imported an 124 Spider from Italy a few months ago but I'm having massive problems getting any evidence that the DVLA will accept in order to establish the year of manufacture.

I have done lots of research on the chassis number and I'm almost sure it is a 1984 car. The problem is that the DVLA will not accept anything from the internet and the Fiat archives in Italy are out of action. I need a physical letter from some authorised club or authority.

Can anyone help. please.

Thanks,

jjspider

Palio might be able to help
jjspider Yes the Fiat Motor Club (G.B.) are the only Fiat Club in the UK who can supply DVLA dating information. There is a charge as there's quite a bit of work for the chap involved, who has to deal with Fiat and their records in Turin. It's a bit cheaper if you join first - £100 for non-members, or £50 if you also join for £25 (a total of £75 but you get a year's membership too).

Unless you can supply what DVLA are demanding another way, this is likely to be your only solution. (y)

I know that the treasurer who deals with those requests has been in hospital, and it also takes a while to get Italy awake - don't expect it to only take a couple of weeks, as it might easily be double that unfortunately.

still looking..

jjspider - phew--https://www.fiatforum.com/lets-talk-fiat/345041-need-help-identifying-year-fiat.html

hope it helps a little,
there was talk on other threads I just searched for "Mr.FIAT", a Forum sponsor, to provide dating info for US import FIAT's of the 50's to 80's

in my mind - a chassis number tells it all - country code, year and body style

is your FIAT factory bodied..??

Thanks for the information. The problem is that, although everything I've seen on the internet indicates 1984 as the year of manufacture, the DVLA does not accept anything from the internet. I don't really care if it's 1983 or 1985. I have also been told by Fiat UK that the archive section of Fiat Italy is currently out of action. I need a document/letter that confirms the year. Very frustrating.

doesn't the VIN No. state the year..??

sounds like you're stuck waiting for a reply from Turin ,

unless you can get a document from one of the links I gave you,

preferably a FIAT specialist..
have you contacted Middle Barton, etc.??
