Good afternoon,I have a Fiat Punto Grande 2007. I have been given a set of speakers as my front two are completely busted. They are a simple installation and fit, however there were no instructions, and I am cautious installing them taking into account fuse sizes. The exact model of the speakers are these here, advertised for replacement / upgrade speakers for the Punto Grande.http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Fiat-Grande-...?hash=item3d20e9b4d6:g:XJYAAOSwENxXlpCgShould I be worried, or simply plug and play?Cheers

The original speakers will be riveted in place, so you'll need to drill out the rivets. They also use a proprietary connector, and the new ones will use standard spade connectors. You may be able to dismantle the proprietary connector and find that it has oversized spades inside, which can be squashed with pliers to make fit (I did this recently with my Mk2b Punto).
The other thing you may find difficult is mounting the speakers as the originals are riveted to the metal of the door, the new ones will come with screws which may not fit the original holes so will need new holes drilled.

Oops! I've been hung before for not looking for a guide first!! I should remember that!

I'm prepared for the drilling out the rivets and new holes for the installation and I have the rivet gun to fix the speaker.

I'll go at it over the weekend and post back the outcome.

Cheers

Hi all, many thanks for your replies.

I am tackling this today!

One question, can you recommend any substitute for silicone grease?

Only one local car shop stocks a very large tub of it and I'll only need a dab of it

I don't want to use standard grease, which I can get in smaller quantities on the electrical component

Ive tried electrical shops and the like of b&q and they only have the silicone spray which is more for friction

There is a load of the stuff on the current connections and i'll try and salvage what i can

Cheers

All done. 1hr 45 mins approx. Good sound off these speakers.

I needed to use a connector provided with the speakers.

Tip...when drilling out the rivets simply do enough to take off the heads and pop off the speakers. Using a small hacksaw, you can quickly saw through the remainder of the rivet nail on the near side of the car body work. Take a screwdriver to the remainder of the rivet in the hole and with the palm of your hand, hit the screwdriver to remove the last nub of the rivet and clear the hole in the bodywork

This method allows you to reuse the holes in the car body work without having to drill new holes.

Great sound off these speakers, but, i have just discovered one of the back ones needs replacement!! Something for the new year!

All the best!
