Just thought I`d mention that I`m a new poster to this forum. used to be a member of fmc gb but it seems to have lost its momentum. I`ve threatened to buy a Cinquecento Sporting for some years now and have finally made the purchase only recently of an Imola Blue coloured car. The Fiat 127 Sport was my first venture into Italian cars and I love their quirkiness.

I hope I will be able to provide some interesting reading while I re-furbish my car and that I can get information from " those that know"

Have to say that I made my Sporting purchase with only seconds to go on Ebay...recklessly this was done without viewing but fortunately the anxiety ebbed away after I`d got the car home and made the initial tentative inspections. I found a small hole in the boot which can easily be repaired, the rear bumper support brackets had almost converted to cornflakes and that the cam cover gasket was leaking. It was also found that the temperature sender unit had expired.
With my heart in my throat I explored the nether regions of the car and found that all was as it had left the factory in Poland. The sills were all good.

I have purchased an Abarth steering wheel to enhance the interior along with an original Fiat radio cassette player and removed an awful set of ghetto blaster speakers from the front and rear of the vehicle. it will eventually emerge from my garage as original as Fiat intended with minimal extras. Hopefully, by that time, Cinquecento values will have moved forward somewhat. I say that, because I remember some journo from Classic Car Weekly predicting as much about Five years ago...........

When I had a 127 sport in the 80s you could pick them up for a couple of hundred quid, have you seen the prices now !
