Hello everyone I've bought Grande Punto couple of months ago and I've just notice today that a rubber under a bonet is mealting ? (not sure if it's actually melting) also I've notice that the antifreeze level is on min and that the pipes from the antifreeze rezervuar goes throught the rubber :/ but when I have touched the pipes around the rubber they were hot but it wasn't burning.
Also the weather was hot and my car was in a sun but I don't think it will melt the rubber.
Did anyone had the same problem or know whay is this happening I a have attached a photo of it as don't know if my post make any sense Lol

I've looked throught the whole internet and can't find anyone with same issues will take my car to mechanics tomorrow morning as hate not knowing what was wrong with it.

These are the pipes for the heater matrix inside the cabin.

Are you sure this is not an old damage from an other work/service around there?
I mean, can you see the rubber melting after a long ride?

Top up the coolant with distilled water to max (it's just a few ml from low to max) and inspect level for some time.

That looks like oil, fuel or brake fluid has been spilled on it and is attacking the rubber. it's not "melting", it is being eaten by something. I wouldn't worry too much. That part isn't critical to holding water. it just stops the pipes from chafing on the metal of the bulkhead as they pass through it.

Thank you for all the replies as I was worring as thought the rubber was somehow mealted (was even scared to drive the car). It's like goopy stuff checked when car is cold and it don't dry. I had service with oil change, changed the gearbox oil as had to sort a leak out, replaced strut mounts with bearings and replaced ac compressor so I assume the mechanics had to spill something on it when I had the work done as it wasn't there when I looked at it after the service and just started to "mealting" over time.

Idon't think it will "burst". It is not carrying any fluid under pressure. It is just a piece of "padding" to stop the pipes from rubbing against the edge of the metal hole where they pass through the bulkhead. If it was my car, I would just wash it with a bit of soapy water, rinse it and leave it alone - just monitor it over the next few months to see if it gets any worse.
