Hi all, thanks for having me.. Just went out of my comfort zone and got a croma 1.9 jtd. Happy so far, but gear change is very tight. Hope to do some searches and maybe pick your brains soon. T

Hi and welcome to the wonderful world of Croma ownership.
The Croma uses a cable selector set up and can get stiff. It may be because it has sat for a while. In theory the cables do not need lubrication but my selector was a little stiff so I pulled back the rubber bellows covers at the gearbox end and packed them with PTFE loaded grease (Loctite superlube http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/greases/1847967/ ) and re-reated the covers. This eventually works it's way down the cables and I now have a nice light change. Only issue is access to the cables. It's actually easier to remove the battery and battery box than struggle down the gap. Make sure the wiring loom behind the battery box has not slipped out of it's clips. If it does it can foul the gear selector balance weight and cause all sorts of issues.
Do you have the 8 valve or 16V (150hp) engine?

Many thanks.
I already put some teflon lube on the cables at the gearbox end, and also on the 'ball' of the gearstick. but still quite tight. I never removed the bellows as you mentioned but might go back in there and have a go again.

I have the 120bhp version, still plenty go for me...
